Plymouth
Plymouth is a city with vast amounts of history! Situated on the south coast of Devon, Plymouth is famous for being a historic Naval city. One of only three English ports that holds naval ships and submarines, it also contains the largest naval base in western europe, HMNB Devonport.
Plymouth is a city in need of a revamp as it looks very dated, but the waterfront at Millbay is now undertaking a massive development which will transform Plymouth!
The waterfront at Plymouth Hoe, where Francis Drake waited for the Armada hundreds of years ago, has some pleasant gardens, a Naval memorial and the original lighthouse from the Eddystone Reef, making it quite distinctive. Further round the Hoe, there are a number of outdoor restaurant terraces, good fish and chip shops, some pretty buildings, and some rather over-friendly seagulls. There are still some fishing vessels, but mostly the marina is full of yachts.
