The Manora fort is located around 65 km (40 mi) distance from Thanjavur
in state ofTamil Nadu, India. The fort was built by Maratha king Serfoji
II during 1814?1815 to memorialize the successful advance of the
British over Napoleon Bonaparte. It is an 8-storied, hexagonal tower,
which is 23-meters high the Bay of Bengal. The fort derives its name
Manora, from the word Minaret.
