An awe-inspiring view, The Grand Canyon is a colourful, steep-sided
gorge carved by the Colorado River in northern Arizona, United States.
It is 277 miles (446 km) long, up to 18 miles (29 km) wide. Aside from
casual sightseeing from the South Rim (averaging 7,000 feet [2,100 m]
above sea level), rafting, hiking, running and helicopter tours are
especially popular.
